E-mail Subscription in Blogger - New Post Directly Into Mailbox

December 20, 2008

In this post, we're going to talk about Email Subscription for your Blog visitors.
Your can offer two subscription options to your visitors:

► RSS subscription - people will subscribe to your Blog, and will read the news in their favorite Reader
► E-mail subscription - people will get the news (new posts, info) directly into their E-mail
It's advisable to use both options, because different people prefer different things....Personally, I like the E-mail subscription, but as you can see, I use both in my Blog.

SO, HOW TO PLACE AN E-MAIL SUBSCRIPTION BOX INTO MY BLOG?
For Blogger there are two options:

► If you do not have an account with Feedburner - use FeedBlitz.com
► If you have an account with Feedburner - just activate the E-mail subscription option

Feedburner .com is a service that offers detailed statistics about your Feed, you can get the info on how many people subscribed, in what Reader, where from.....
It's advisable to redirect your default Feed from Blogger to Feedburner. This way, you'll have all the information you need.
And don't worry, you won't lose anything. It's just REDIRECTION. To create an account with them, visit Feedburner.com and follow the instructions.

1. Ok, if you've chosen not to redirect your feed to Feedburner, there's still a way to have an E-mail subscription on your Blog. Using FeedBlitz. Step-by-step:

1. sign in to your Blogger account
2. go to FeedBlitz.com
3. enter your E-mail address (the same one you use for Blogger)
4. enter verification code
5. click on "Install your Email subscription widget on blogger" button

You will be taken to your Blogger account when you successfully complete the form.

2. If you already have an account with Feedburner, you just have to activate this option, and place some code. Step by step:

1. sign in to your account on Feedburner.com
2. click on "My Feeds" on the top of the screen
3. select your Blog feed under "Feed Title"
4. click on "Publicize" tab ► choose "Email subscriptions" on the left
5. choose "Feedburner" from the list (the first one) and hit "Activate"
6. click on "Subscription Management"
7. copy the provided code
8. sign in to your Blogger account, then go to LAYOUT ► PAGE ELEMENTS ► click on "Add a Gadget" and choose "HTML/JavaScript" from the list.
9. place the code there
10. Save settings.
11. Smile!
